Women’s Golf Wins Seventh CCAA Title at Desert Blume

Medicine Hat, Alberta – The Humber women's golf team cemented their place atop Canadian collegiate golf once again, capturing the 2025 CCAA National Championship at Desert Blume Golf Club in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Behind strong showings from both OCAA 1 and OCAA 2 squads, Humber claimed the program's seventh national team title — and the fourth under head coach Nick Trichillo.

Leading the way was Jordon Newlands (Humber – OCAA 1), who delivered a brilliant comeback to claim her first-ever individual national championship. Starting the final round three strokes back of teammate Susan Chen, Newlands carded a composed 74 on a challenging final day to post a four-round total of 303 (+15) — edging Chen by a single shot to capture the national crown.

The victory marks Humber's first individual national title since 2022, and just the third in program history, joining Shauna Wilde (2007) and Hayley McCallum (2022) among Humber's individual national champions.

Chen's consistency was equally remarkable, finishing runner-up at 304 (+16) with rounds of 76-75-75-78, giving Humber a dominant one-two finish atop the leaderboard.

Ava Bechard (Humber – OCAA 2) tied for eighth place at 334 (+46), adding to Humber's depth and helping secure a national bronze medal for the OCAA.

Humber's OCAA 1 team delivered a wire-to-wire performance to capture the national championship at +31, finishing a commanding 14 strokes ahead of the runner-up RSEQ squad. The Hawks demonstrated remarkable steadiness across all four rounds, as both Newlands and Chen contributed key scores in each round.

The OCAA 2 team also turned in an impressive showing, finishing third overall at +66, ahead of all but two regional contingents. Their strong play reinforced the program's unmatched depth and development pipeline, as Humber became the only school to place two teams in the top three at the national level.

Humber's combination of consistency, experience, and resilience stood out across the demanding four-round championship at Desert Blume — a course that tested every aspect of shot-making and mental strength. The result further solidified the Hawks' reputation as the standard-bearer in collegiate golf across Canada.

The 2025 title marks Humber's seventh national team championship and the fourth under head coach Nick Trichillo, adding another chapter to one of the most successful programs in Canadian collegiate sports.
