For the second time in the programs history, the Humber Hawks men's soccer team completed the treble winning provincial indoor gold in penalty kicks.

It would be a tough task for the shorthanded Hawks on Saturday. Four players from the previous day would not compete in the medal round on Saturday due to injury. On a high note captain Dominic Roberts returned to the line-up after leaving Friday with injury.

The day began with the Hawks playing in the semi finals against their rivals the Sheridan Bruins. In a close contest the two rivals went all the way down to the wire and at one point the two benches cleared and engaged in a shoving match.

Humber led at halftime but the Bruins tied it early in the second half after some great ball movement exposed the Hawks defensively. Humber would climb back and give one last push scoring two late goals to win 3-1.

The finals would be a rematch of the two most dominant teams between the Hawks and the St. Clair Saints. The two teams met twice this season with the Saints walking away with a victory in the first game while the second game ended in a tie.

The Saints would take advantage of an error on defence in the opening minutes putting it past Hawks goalkeeper Eugenio Garro. The goal opened the game up and chances were then created at both ends.

Camilo Duenas who was great for the Hawks on both days was able to get the equalizer with five seconds remaining in the first half. A crucial goal heading into halftime.

Both sides would create chances at either end of the pitch in the second half but both goalkeepers could not be beaten, a trend which continued for the rest of the half and throughout overtime.

The game would have to be settled in penalty shot's, somewhere the Hawks have been this season having won national gold in penalties.

Humber converted on its first three shots before goalkeeper Garro made a big stop. He had guessed the correct way on every penalty so far. After the Saints scored their next shot Cody Green converted giving the Hawks the gold medal.

The Hawks became the second team in the schools history to sweep the podium winning outdoor provincial and national gold along with indoor provincial gold. Assistant coach Jason Mesa previously did it when he played for Humber.

Along with the gold medal the Hawks had some players walk away with some awards. Duenas walked away as a tournament all-star after a superb two-days while Kingsley Boasiako was named tournament MVP.
