PREVIEW: Humber Golf readies for the 2025 Canadian University/College Championship

KAMLOOPS, BC - Humber golf is heading to British Columbia for the 2025 Canadian University/College Championship from June 3-6. The top Canadian golfers in college and university will compete to be crowned the best in Canada at Rivershore Golf Links. 19 men's teams and 13 women's teams, comprising 150 players, will make up the field.

The 72-hole event features individual and team competition, with exemptions into Golf Canada events including each of the 2025 Canadian Men's and Women's Amateur Championships – awarded to the low male / female individual medalist – as well as the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Invitationals – awarded to the winning team from each division.

Following the conclusion of the third round, the field will be trimmed down to the top nine men's teams and top six women's teams, including any squad within 10 shots of the lead. Individuals within 10 shots of the leader will also make the cut, or any player within the top 10 of the leaderboard.

History
  • Under the guidance of Hall of Fame head coach Ray Chateau, the men's golf squad has captured three titles (2004, 2007, and 2011) – finishing on the podium another four times.
  • Humber's 18-under-par victory in 2007 is a record that still stands to this day.
  • Since the championship began in 2003, the Hawks have been the only CCAA program to capture a title.
  • Brad Kerfoot (2004), Lee French (2007), and Mark Hoffman (2011) captured individual titles. French's title came after a two-hole playoff.
  • Maggie Trainor captured the individual title for Humber in 2009 as the women's squad finished in third place.
Rivershore Golf Links

Apart from the other courses, Kamloops' true links layout is Rivershore Golf. Designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., this par 72 course stretches seamlessly over riverside landscape, as fairways wind through wild fescue and sagebrush.

Rivershore is honest, fair, generously bunkered, and water is used sparingly on this superb links-style course. Players will find holes lining the South Thompson River on route to the clubhouse.

The course's practice facility overlooks the river, showing off the panoramic views of the links layout and surrounding landscape from every angle.

This Trent Jones Sr. masterpiece provides opportunities for all levels of skill and is generally referred to as a local favourite.
